Ontario Labour Legislation Review- Share your recommendations; RSVP by August 10

ONN is offering to convene a call in August for nonprofit organizations planning to attend and/or present to The Changing Workplaces Review.

The Ontario government has appointed two Special Advisors to lead a review of Ontario’s labour laws and employments standards. The Changing Workplaces Review will focus on how the Employment Standards Act (2000) and the Labour Relations Act (1995) could be reformed to “better protect workers while supporting businesses in our changing economy.”

They’re holding public hearings across the province and are scheduled to wrap up in September. For more information, and to register to make a presentation, please see:

http://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/about/workplace/

If there is sufficient interest, ONN will schedule an online meeting for Ontario nonprofits to share information on deputations, identify common recommendations and support a collective voice for the nonprofit sector in the consultations.

If you’re interested in sharing your work and recommendations, contact Joan MacDonald, Labour Force Project Lead, at joan@theonn.ca by August 10, 2015 (Online meeting to be scheduled the week of August 24).

*Please feel free to share this invite with others who might be interested.
