The next step in a sector-wide pension plan for Ontario's nonprofits and charities

As nonprofits and charities, we build and sustain resilient communities. Healthy organizations mean we can do more for communities. That includes retirement security for nonprofit workers.

Pensions were identified as a key component as part of our collective work over the past five years to create a labour force strategy for the sector.

With one million nonprofit workers, it’s estimated that half of workers don’t have a pension plan. And 45% of these jobs are part-time and/or non-permanent. Adding to this are uncompetitive wages which hamper the abilities of organizations to recruit and retain talent, and constrain the impact of organizations.

Now we've got a roadmap for a plan that's affordable and accessible to workers and employers, portable and can support our work to recruit and retain a talented workforce.
